Christmas 2008 Has Come and Gone

What a wonderful Christmas I had with my family! I spent a lot of Tuesday helping my mom with some baking and I didn't even burn down the house. :) My brother and his family got here on Tuesday, December 23rd. We visited a little that night and I got to meet my nephew, Ethan! Yeah! He's a cutie, though I know I'm biased.

Wednesday was wonderful as well. Aaron had to work and I slept late (yeah! love to sleep late!). I met my family for burgers for a late lunch at Buns Over Texas (one of Cody's favorites so we always go there when they're here). We went to the Christmas Eve service at my parent's church that evening...and boy was that an experience! The service was lovely, but there was no nursery. Because we had the boys, we decided to sit at the back because we weren't sure how they were going to act. I guess because we were at the back, there were a lot of noisy people...and not just kids. Adults as well! I was amazed at how disrespectful people were. There was one woman making more noise than the child she was trying to discipline (and I use the word discipline very loosely!). Jacob and Ethan did an awesome job, though! They are very well behaved children and I give Cody and Heather kuddos for that. They're wonderful parents! After the service we went over to my aunt's house where we had snacks for dinner and opened presents with my mom's side of the family.

Christmas morning my parent's made the traditional Christmas morning breakfast (eggs, sausage balls, and pumpkin bread...yum!) so we went that direction. After breakfast we had our special time together where we read the Christmas story (the whole reason for the season!) and my dad had something special to say to Heather and Aaron. Then we opened gifts...starting with the stockings, of course! Those are a favorite around our house. My mom always does wonderful stockings - they're the most fun! And - as usual - they did too much! I also got Aaron a Playstation 3 (he's playing it as I type) and we'll be getting me a laptop. We got to borrow Guitar Hero from my friend Ladonna and her family so we've been playing that as well. I beat Aaron so bad! lol

It was also cool because my dad's dad (my granddad) came up on Christmas Day. When my grandmother was alive, they didn't do a lot of traveling (she wasn't a big traveller...) and so we usually had to go there to see them. With her passing, he's been travelling a lot more. He was here until Saturday. My dad took Friday off of work and we just did some shopping around.

Unfortunately, the boys have been fighting off being sick. Ethan has had a fever for basically a day and a half. They're treating it, of course, but when the medicine wears off, he's cranky because he doesn't feel good. That just goes with it sometimes! You hate for them to be sick. Jacob has been a cutie pie! It's been fun watching him this year. This is the first year he's really known what was going on. Every present he opened was like his first and it always took his breath away. It was great. He's kept us laughing and is wearing us all out with his energy. They go home tomorrow and I'll be sad for them to go. :(

All in all, this has been a wonderful Christmas! I still have a week and two days off of work and will be busy getting school work done. I will be glad when this class is over, though it's been a lot of fun.

How did everyone else spend their Christmas?
