Happy 1st Birthday Jacob!
It's been a while, but I did intend to blog about our trip to Kansas City to celebrate Jacob's 1st birthday. Time sure does fly!
Aaron and I flew down on Saturday and Mom and Dad flew down on Sunday. It was cool that we were all able to be together! Because Mom's birthday happened while we were all there as well, we decided to have Jacob's party on Monday after we got back from dinner - celebrating Mom's birthday! Instead of having the traditional cake, Heather made very yummy cupcakes. Jacob's, of course, had a very special "1" candle that was all his own. Of course, as he still doesn't really understand the concept of blowing out the candle, we had to help! He began to explore the icing, although Cody, my brother, didn't think he was moving fast enough so he quickly helped Jacob out with the mess by smearing some icing on his face. He really didn't like that too much, but proceded to eat his cake anyways.
After that we opened gifts. Those of you who have been around a 1-year old opening gifts will appreciate the fact that, really, after the first gift, they aren't interested anymore! The rest of us kept encouraging him to open his other gifts, but he can't going back to the first gift. We could probably all learn something from the year-old child who is happy with just the one thing.
Anyways - our time together was wonderful. We had a great time. We were sad to leave, although they'll be in town tomorrow for Christmas. I can't wait to see Jacob again! They change so quickly at this age. :)
