It's Tuesday evening...the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I'm off the rest of the week. Yes - I know...I'm very lucky. I will say all of the days will be full of celebrating. I will blog on my activites at the conclusion of the holidays.
In the meantime - a blog about my poor cat, Joey. Today was the day he had to go get his yearly shots. Now, let me preface this with the fact that some of this could be my fault. I only put Joey in his cat carrier when he's going to the vet to get his shots. I realize that right there can add to the stress of the situation, but, never-the-less, I don't make a point, during the year, to put him in his cat carrier any other time of the year. Maybe I'll do that this year...
I get off from work early and head home. I put Joey in the cat carrier and take him to the car. Almost immediately the cat cries start. This, though, isn't unusal. He typically cries, those deep cries, the entire way there and the entire way back. We get to the vet and after much struggle, I get Joey into the vet. Joey is still crying. I start filling out the paperwork and look down to find out that Joey has peed in his cage! He is so scared that he can't hold his bladder. I felt so bad. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this has happened.
Maybe I need to think about going to a different vet. Maybe I just need to do a better job about putting Joey in his cat cage more often so he's more comfortable when he's in the cage. Maybe I just need to learn how to give him the shots myself. Then again - maybe I don't do anything.
I will say, the vet's office was really good and took care of Joey. They cleaned him up as good as they could and they cleaned up his cat carrier. That's better than the last time this happened. I'll give them a "thumbs up" for that.
